Exercise Muscle Physiology Lab

The Exercise Muscle Physiology Laboratory is interested in developing new non-invasive methods of assessing muscle metabolism and blood flow in people with chronic illnesses or disabilities. We have used 31P MRS to measure skeletal muscle mitochondrial function and are developing new ways to evaluate intramuscular fat using MRI and ultrasound. Our research participants include people with spinal cord injuries, amyloid lateral sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, heart failure, and peripheral arterial disease. We are also interested in evaluating novel exercise and activity regimens that might benefit people with these disorders. More information »
